Louie the Neapolitan Mastiff

Mar 04

Today is month 7 since Louies amputation!!! It has been 8 months since he was diagnosed and he seems to be doing fantastic πŸ™‚ He does tire easier with only 3 legs and although he still chases squirrels he doesn’t come close to catching them like he used to πŸ™‚ But he is happy and eating good (maybe too good) and he spends his time reminding me to be with him more,to play outside with him and to spend every spare minute sharing our time together πŸ™‚ He seems to want to be with me more then he ever did and will cry and howl if I go outside and don’t take him with me πŸ™ Β So this is our update for this month. Β And here is our monthly video, this one of Louie mastering the steps πŸ™‚ ! I love him so much, he is my constant shadow and my personal body guard who believes his only purpose in life is to protect me….from who knows what but I guess he knows and that is all that matters.

APPLAUSE!!! APPLAUSE!!! APPLAUSE!!! Still applauding! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I ALWAYS look so forward to posts about Louie AND videos! What a great ppst and video this is!!

I love the lessons he is teaching you, all of us. And I love that he is thoroughly enjoying himself and clearly immersing himself in living life to the fullest with the human he loves!

I love that, in his mind, he still thinks he can catch those squirrels! Is that optimism or what? Shhh….glad the squirrels get away though.

I reference Big Louie quite often in the forums when people are faced with amps on big dogs, as well as when people are having to consider discontinuing chemo because of side effects. This boy is truly an inspiration on so many levels…as is his mom!

Keep these great updates coming! Going to watch the video again. Love it!!!!!!!

    Big hugs to all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

So glad Louie is still doing well. He’s such a good example of how size really doesn’t matter.

I was scrolling through Louie’s blog and realized we corresponded a few months ago. Buddy – also Neapolitan – was dx with Osteosarcoma in Oct. We did 2 rounds of chemo. At the time we talked, we were still doing chemo. Buddy did not tolerate well (low WBC, fatigue, fever, malaise and generally miserable) and we stopped after two plus he has lung nodules. We decided to focus on quality instead of quantity. BUT – i’m happy to report- Buddy is 4 months post amp and doing great, loving life and you’d never know he has cancer. It gave me GREAT hope to see that this is Louie’s 7 month Ampuversary and he’s doing so well. Thanks for posting and I’ll continue to follow you guys on your similar journey

    Love
