Well today my dear, sweet, crazy boy turned 4! ย He has been enjoying life and ever since I stopped his chemo treatments he has been the old Louie that I remember……..the Louie that was, before diagnosis and amputation and chemo treatments. Today we celebrate! He had some of his favorite Boars head turkey breast, and 2 entenmanns pop’ ems (chocolate his preferred flavor). Today there is no cancer, only a special day, for a special dog who turned 4.ย

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Louie!!!!!!!
My Buddy is a Neapolitan Mutt! I wonder if we know each other!! We were stationed in Naples from 2005-2008. Buddy was just diagnosed with Osteosarcoma too. He is on his first round of Chemo. Did Chemo not go well for Louie? Just curious because I’m always second guessing myself.
I hope Louie has the best bday ever! He is such a gorgeous boy! Eat all your favorite stuff Louie – today and always!!

Hi Julie! Louie says thanks for the birthday wishes! Chemo did not go well for Lou. He had 2 doses and I decided to stop it because it just made him weak and nauseous and tired and I just couldn’t stand to see him like that. Most dogs tolerate chemo well……he just didn’t seem to be one of them. Plus the fact that he hated going to the vet and me leaving him there. The stress it caused him just wasn’t worth it to me. He is happy now and I am comfortable with my decision. My heart tells me I did the right thing and Louie does too. Good luck to you and handsome Buddy!

Thanks so much for your reply. I’m a sponge for information to see what how/why people come to their decisions. I will do the same exact thing if Buddy reacts that way. Many puppy hugs/prayers for you and Louie on your journey. Keep us posted.

This dog is beautiful ! I read your blog about his sick bout with the chemo. My Harley is currently in bad shape after his third chemo and I am wondering the same thing you did
Should I go on with it. He is so miserable right now but after reading your blog its obvious that we all have doubt , did we do the right thing . Hopefully Harley will pull out of it like Louie .
Thank you for your blog!
Hugs and kisses to Louie and we are wishing him good health๐
